Today Andy G and I moved 2 hives from Herne Village apiary to one of our farm apiaries. On arrival we opened up the hive entrances and the bees started their orientation flights straight away.
I checked the other hives at this farm and added fondant to some as they had consumed their last batch, they are consuming more than usual at the moment due to mild weather.
After the bees have finished pollination of the apples, pears, cherries and plums, they will return to their site in Herne Village for the summer, where they will live on a wildflower meadow until next autumn.
